Meet...Gerry McGahey
Gerry tells us a little bit about herself and her role in the business
Name: Gerry McGahey
Role: Customer Service Supervisor, Close Brothers Business Finance
Length of time with business: 20 years in May this year
1. Briefly explain your role
I oversee the customer service team and manage their workloads, whilst supporting other colleagues in the office and at other offices with any queries. I send out and maintain all the Regional Growth Fund (RGF) letters (beneficiary and accountant letters) to ensure that the customer understands the requirements for receiving the funding and the commitment to ensure this is maintained. I look after the maturities of agreements and allocate any necessary follow ups to the customer service team. I also assist the new business team with contra settlements. That is just a high level overview and I could go on, but trying to keep it brief!
2. What do you enjoy most about your role?
Everything because it is so diverse and the people are a pleasure to work with. I also like to help my less experienced colleagues develop their customer service skills.
3. How would you describe your work ethic?
Professional, conscientious and flexible with an ability to have fun.
4. If you could be an animal what would you be and why?
I would be a penguin because I love them. They are very comical and will group together for protection when they are scared. They are also always dressed smart and ready for dinner in a posh restaurant.
5. If you weren’t in work now, what would you be doing?
I would be on a whale watching cruise or shopping expedition in New York or Seattle.
6. Which of your colleagues would you like to nominate to feature next in meet the team and why?
I would like to nominate Mike D’Aniello, collections administrator – just because he is a likeable character.
